Looking after a parent, together.
Kithside is the shared space where you and your siblings keep up with what's happening, what's needed, and who's doing it. Send one link and a sibling sees the real picture before they've made an account.
Every space starts with 30 days of everything, no card needed. After that it's free for 2 people, or from $9 a month for the whole family. See what's in each plan.
It works when nothing is wrong.
Most families start long before anything is medical, and many never get there. Kithside is built for that. A space with nothing in it but a grocery run and the Sunday call is a complete space, not an empty one waiting to be filled.
- Dad's fine, but you're the one who notices things, and you'd like your sister to notice them too.
- Mum is just home from hospital and suddenly it's all on you.
Keeping an eye out, the practical help, the paperwork years, appointments if and when. Health is a section your family can open the day it matters. It is never the spine.
Most people arrive here because of a parent. The space doesn't insist on that: a few friends looking after a friend, or neighbours keeping an eye on someone down the street, works exactly the same way.
How someone joins.
Getting the second person in is the hard part of every family tool. So it's the part we made easiest.
- 1
You send a link — one per person. By text, by email, however you actually talk. Need to add someone else? Send them their own.
- 2
They open it. No account, no form. They see the latest updates and what needs doing, and nothing more than that until they join.
- 3
They pick something up. Joining takes a name and a moment, and the thing they claimed is theirs.
Each link works once and lasts two weeks, which is why they go one per person rather than into a group chat. The preview shows recent updates and open tasks, never the full history, and you can turn a link off at any time.
The sibling down the street and the one three time zones away see the same space.
And a good morning reaches a parent in another country the same as one in the next town. Families spread out. The looking-after doesn't have to.
- Every space keeps its parent's own time zone, so reminders and the Sunday brief land at the right hour where they live.
- Money stays in the currency it was spent in. Nobody has to agree on an exchange rate.
- The daily good morning arrives on WhatsApp, wherever that is.
What lives in a space.
- UpdatesFree
- The one place "how's Mum?" gets answered, so it stops being asked in three group chats. Photos welcome.
- Things to doFree
- Claimed, not assigned. Anyone can pick up what's unclaimed, and everyone can see what's still open.
- People and appointmentsFree
- The neighbour with the spare key, the dentist, the Tuesday visit. Reminders land on time in your parent's own time zone.
- MoneyPlatinum
- Who paid and who owes, split evenly. A dollar debt and a shilling debt stay separate, with no invented exchange rate in the middle of your family's money.
- The weekly briefGold
- Every Sunday evening, a short note of what happened and what's still open. Written from the record, never from imagination, and it never tells you what to do. A quiet week reads as a quiet week.
- A good morning for your parentGold
- If they'd like one, a daily hello on WhatsApp. They reply in their own words and the family sees it. One word stops it, any time. WhatsApp hasn't finished approving our number yet, so this arrives a little after everything else — and WhatsApp doesn't deliver our daily message to US phone numbers, so a parent with a US number can't receive it yet.
- Paste anythingPlatinum
- A text from your sister, a letter from the clinic, your own notes. Paste it and Kithside sorts it into appointments, contacts and things to do, for you to confirm one by one. Nothing becomes a record until a person says so.
- Health, if and whenFree
- A section that stays closed until your family opens it. Nothing on the way in assumes it will.
Built in Canada, and built to be checked.
Every promise below is kept by something you can read about, not by a policy.
- Your family's records are stored in Canada.
- One family's space can't see another's. That is built as structure, and a test proves it on every change we ship.
- The weekly brief can only say what the record says. It cites its sources internally, and anything it can't back up is thrown away.
- A space admin can export everything as one file, or delete the space for everyone. Self-serve, any time, no email to support.
- Read how each of these is kept
Isn't this just our family group chat?
The group chat is where you talk about the care. Kithside is where the care lives.
- The chat asks who's taking Mum on Thursday.
- Kithside already knows.
- The neighbour with the spare key is 300 messages up.
- In Kithside it's written down.
- In the chat, everyone assumes somebody will do it.
- In Kithside it's claimed, or visibly still waiting.
- Nobody writes the weekly summary.
- Kithside writes it every Sunday.
Keep WhatsApp for the talking. Kithside remembers. It even sends your parent their good morning on WhatsApp.
The Sunday summary and that daily good morning are part of Kithside Gold; the expense ledger is part of Kithside Platinum. Updates, things to do, people and appointments are free, for up to 2 people.
Questions families ask.
- How is Kithside different from a WhatsApp group?
- A group chat is a stream — things scroll away. Kithside keeps the state: the Thursday appointment, the neighbour with the spare key, and which job someone has claimed and which is still waiting. On a paid plan it also writes the family a short summary every Sunday, from the record. Most families keep their chat for the talking and Kithside for the remembering.
- Does the person we're looking after need an account?
- No. They are never a user of Kithside. If your family switches on the daily good morning, it reaches them on WhatsApp and they reply in their own words. WhatsApp is still approving our number, and doesn't deliver it to US phone numbers yet. One word — STOP — ends it, and the family cannot switch it back on.
- What does it cost to start?
- Every space gets 30 days with everything switched on and no card. After that the free plan keeps core coordination going for 2 people, with the last 30 days of updates in view. A paid plan covers the whole family however many of you there are.
- Where does our family's information live?
- Your records and photos are stored in Canada. A space admin can export all of it as one readable file, or delete the space for everyone, at any time and without emailing us.
What it costs.
Every space starts with 30 days of everything switched on, no card needed. After that it is one of three plans. A plan covers the whole family, in Canadian dollars, and no paid plan ever counts the people in it.

Start with the two of you.
A space takes a minute. The invite takes a message. The rest of the family can arrive whenever they're ready.
